Troubleshooting Common Issues ofghd Hair Straighteners

Introduction

ghd hair straighteners are renowned for their quality and durability. However, like all electronic devices, they can occasionally encounter problems. Understanding how to diagnose common faults can help you determine whether a professional repair or replacement is needed. Here’s a guide to troubleshooting some common issues.

GHD straighteners do not heat up

  • Check the Power Source: Ensure that the straighteners are plugged in properly and that the electrical outlet is working.
  • Inspect the Cord: Look for any signs of damage to the cord, such as fraying or kinks, which could indicate a wiring issue.
  • Internal Faults: If there are no visible issues and the device still doesn’t heat up, it could be an internal fault like a broken heating element.

GHD straighteners overheat

  • Faulty Thermostat: This could indicate a problem with the thermostat, which regulates the temperature. Generally this would cause the internal thermal fuse to blow, but in some cases, ghds can overheat and operate higher than the optimal temperate without blowing the safety fuse. A suitable thermometer with a range of over 250 deg C can be used, optimal temperature of the closed plates should be around 180 deg C. Professional servicing is recommended to resolve these issues, contact us for details.

The Straighteners do not heat up enough

One plate failed:

    •  Check to see if one of the plates is not heating, often one plate can fail leading to an overall temperature decrease. Generally, the design of ghds mean that if htey operate with one plate only, it will be the switch side plate that fails. The heater plate will require replacing.

Both plates warm:

This could indicate a faulty thermostat if the temperature is below optimum temperature. This will need checking and or replacing.

Unusual noise or smell

  • Electrical Issues: Any buzzing sounds or burning smells are indicative of serious electrical problems. Unplug the straighteners immediately and consult a professional.
  • Remember, attempting to repair electrical appliances on your own can be dangerous and might void any warranty on your device. It’s always safer to consult with a certified technician or the manufacturer for repairs
