ghd hair straighteners are part of many people's daily routine, and with proper care they can last for years. These tips will help keep yours in good condition.
Clean them regularly. Make sure the straightener is unplugged and completely cool, then wipe the plates gently with a slightly damp cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals or anything abrasive, which can damage the plates. A soft cloth removes product build-up. If the plastics are badly clogged, we offer a deep clean for £10 with any repair.
Let your ghds cool completely before putting them away, ideally in a heat resistant pouch or mat. Don't wrap the cable tightly around the straightener, as this damages the wires over time. Loosely coil it alongside instead.
Always make sure your hair is completely dry before straightening it. Using straighteners on damp hair can damage both your hair and the straightener. Try not to use them in very humid places, to protect the electronics.
Be gentle with your ghds. Dropping them can damage the ceramic plates or the parts inside. There's no need to clamp down hard on your hair, as heavy pressure can harm your hair and the straightener.
If your straighteners start to go wrong, don't try to repair them unless you're competent with mains electrics. Have them looked at by someone who can diagnose and repair the fault safely, such as our repair service.
Looking after your ghds is simple. A little care goes a long way towards keeping them working well for longer.
