ghd sleep mode explained
Your ghds went cold and started beeping? It may be sleep mode, not a fault. How to tell the difference.

When a pair of ghds stops working, the instinct is often to buy a new pair. Sometimes that's the right call. But many faults come down to one small part, and replacing that part can give your straighteners plenty more life.
The faults we see most often are a failed resistor, a blown thermal fuse, a worn cable, a heater plate that has stopped working or, on newer ghd Gold models, a failed MOSFET. These are individual parts that can be replaced, without changing the whole straightener. That's why most of our repairs are £29.99, or £39.99 on the ghd Gold, plus return postage, and we confirm the price before any work starts.
Electrical waste is a growing problem. In October 2021, the recycling charity Material Focus reported that over 40% of UK adults had thrown away an electrical item in the previous 12 months, and that only 2% were mending their electricals or having them fixed. It estimated that UK households throw away 155,000 tonnes of unwanted electricals each year.
Repairing a straightener keeps it in use and out of that pile.
You don't pay anything until we've found the fault, agreed the price with you and completed the repair. If you decide not to go ahead, you only pay return postage, or we can dispose of them for you. Try our fault finder, or book a repair.
Book online, post them to us and we'll diagnose the fault before you pay anything.
